Box Score

The Charger volleyball team did its part to ensure a happy homecoming on campus Saturday afternoon.

Hillsdale ran its winning streak to five with a 3-0 win over Davis & Elkins College at the Dawn Tibbetts Potter Arena. The Chargers won their sets by scores of 25-11, 25-14 and 25-7 to improve to 11-3 on the season.

The Chargers came out with focus and energy, stemming from the unstoppable play of junior Kara Vyletel. No stranger to posting double digits in kills, Vyletel was devastatingly efficient in Saturday's win, recording 16 kills to go along with a career-high .750 hitting percentage. She committed just one hitting error among her 20 attempts. She consistently hit over the block and was jumping as high as she ever has, giving Hillsdale a weapon the Senators were unable to counter.

As a team, Hillsdale operated at a high level of efficiency on offense, hitting .450 as a team while limiting Davis & Elkins to a team hitting percentage of .000 in the match. All four players who had at least five kills - Vyletel, Paige VanderWall, Jackie Langer and Allyssa Van Wienen - had an individual hitting percentage of at least .500.

Van Wienen had 6 kills and 3 block assists, while VanderWall turned in another terrific match with 7 kills, 7 digs and 3 service aces. Junior Taylor Bennett started the match and had 14 assists in the first set. Taylor Wiese led the defense with 18 digs, while Langer had 5 kills and 13 digs.

Hillsdale wraps up its three-match homecoming home stand Sunday at 1:00 when it hosts Alderson Broaddus.
