October 19, 2012 – The Hillsdale College volleyball team had little trouble in recording its eighth win in a row Friday  night, sweeping Lake Erie College 3-0 in Painesville, Ohio.

The Chargers are now 12-9 overall and 8-2 in the GLIAC, and face a red-hot Ashland University program at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The entire roster saw extended playing time in the match, as the Chargers experimented with varying lineups throughout the match. Sophomore Lindsay Kostrzewa got her first career start and saw her first playing time of the season after battling through an assortment of injuries. A hard worker and respected leader on the team, Kostrzewa got her teammates fired up by delivering two kills and a solo block in the first set, won by the Chargers 25-17.

Hillsdale finished the second set on a 9-0 run, its longest scoring run within a match this season, on its way to a 25-13 triumph. The Chargers closed out set three with another 25-17 win.

As a team, the Chargers had a hitting percentage of .337 in the match compared to .033 for the Storm. Hillsdale held a 7-1 total blocks edge and had 16 more kills in the match.

Freshman Emily Wolfert set a new career-high with a .625 hitting percentage, slamming home 10 kills on just 19 attempts to go along with an impressive 10 digs. Junior Caitlin Kopmeyer had eight kills and 10 digs for Hillsdale, while Bekah Draves was efficient in two sets played with  seven kills, three block assists and a .455 hitting percentage.

Junior Sydney Lenhart handed out 16 assists, while sophomore Alexis Waugh dished out 12 assists and had two service aces. Freshman Kristin Malcolm started two sets for the Chargers and had three block assists.
