Ermakov lowers provisional time to headline Hillsdale Last Chance Meet

Athletes on Hillsdale College's women's track and field team took to their home track at Hayden Park for one final time in 2024 on Wednesday, looking to improve provisional marks at the Hillsdale 13-Event Last Chance Meet.

The biggest mover on the day for the Chargers on Wednesday was senior Shura Ermakov. Already safely in the field for the upcoming NCAA DII Outdoor Championships at the end of May in the 400m hurdles, Ermakov put herself in the conversation to earn a bid in a second event with a big personal best in the 100m hurdles.

Ermakov's winning time of 13.91 is the best time in the event by a Charger this season and ties her for 18th in the nation in the event, putting her squarely on the bubble for qualifying in the 100m hurdles to the national meet scheduled to be held in Emporia, Kansas over Memorial Day weekend. Teammate Louisa Klaserner also had a solid race for Hillsdale, finishing fourth in 14.61.

Hillsdale won two more events in the meet. The Chargers took four of the top five spots in the triple jump, led by senior Emily Gerdin, who won iwth a mark of 11.93 meters. Grace Chen finished third with a jump of 10.86 meters, Erika Mogelvang finished fourth at 10.53 meters, and Neva Polo took fifth with a mark of 10.33 meters. Polo also finished fifth in the long jump with a mark of 5.30 meters.

The Chargers' Eden Little won the javelin title with a throw of 41.93 meters as well for the Chargers, with teammate Juliet Bernard taking fourth with a mark of 30.15 meters. Reagan Dahlquist also took runner-up in the high jump (1.61 meters) for Hillsdale, Tara Townsend finished fourth in the pole vault (3.77 meters) and Katie Weldy placed fourth in the hammer throw (54.35 meters).

Hillsdale will continue to chase provisional qualifying marks for the rest of the week, as the Chargers are scheduled to compete at the Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet at Baldwin Wallace University on Friday, and will travel to Grand Valley State University on Saturday for a Last Chance Meet as well.
