Women's Track Collects Several First-Places at Hillsdale Invitational

Results

It proved to be a chilly day on home turf for Charger Track and Field, as the women battled the wind here in Hillsdale.

Senior Ashlee Moran ran a 12.2 in the 100 meter dash for the win, while freshman Kajsa Johannson (12.39) and senior Fiona Shea (12.6) followed closely behind for second and third, respectively.

In the 800 meter run, sophomore Abbie Porter raced hard for second with a time of 2:14.54, a season-best for the Grand Rapids native.

Over on the distance side, senior Amanda Reagle competed well, winning the 1500 meters with a time of 4:49.03, with her freshman teammate Christina Sawyer not far behind in third (4:51.97). In the 5000 meters, senior Hannah McIntyre brought her usual consistency, taking first and hitting a provisional mark with 16:55.63.

Rounding out the long races, junior Allysen Eads won the 3000 meter steeplechase with a provisional mark of 10:44.64.

In the field events, junior Kristin Freeman jumped a season best in high jump (1.52 meters), while senior Alexandra Whitford won the pole vault with a provisional mark of 3.94 meters. Her teammate, sophomore Kathryn Bassette, also jumped a season best in the event with 3.49 meters to take second.

Finally, senior legacy captain Rachael Tolsma threw a season-best in the discus with a toss of 33.97 meters, and took second in the hammer throw with a provisional mark of 51.83 meters.
