A beautiful day at the University of Cincinnati's track gave the Charger women an opportunity to truly showcase the talent they're bringing into the outdoor season. With a fourth place team finish behind competitive Division I programs like Cincinnati and Ball State, the program proved its potential both on and off the track.

Beginning in the throws, senior legacy captain Rachael Tolsma improved on last week's hammer throw mark with a throw of 51.42 meters to take third, while also representing the Chargers well in the shot put with an eighth place finish at 12.69 meters.

Also in the field, senior Alexandra Whitford jumped a provisional mark of 3.67 meters in the pole vault, to take fifth.

The distance women brought their usual competitive spirit to the track, along with some new faces. Senior captain Andrea Bodary ran her first 10K race for the year, taking fourth with a time of 39:43:16, while senior Emily Southgate ran her first ever 10K with a time of 40:07:32 to take sixth. To add to the distance domination, freshman Christina Sawyer took third (17:33:47) in the 5K, while senior Amanda Reagle (18:09:36) took eighth, beating her original seed time.

Sophomore Abbie Porter also raced the mid-distance well today, taking fifth with a time of 2:18:09.

Charger sprints also competed with urgency, beginning with a third place finish (47.68 seconds) in the 4x100 relay comprised of seniors Fiona Shea and Ashlee Moran, as well as freshmen Kajsa Johannson and Zalonya Eby. Eby also raced impressively in the 200 meters, taking second with a time of 24.67 seconds, followed by Moran in sixth with 25.39 seconds.

Finally, the dynamic, freshman hurdling duo Carmen Botha and Calli Townsend rounded out the day with a 1-2 finish in the 400 hurdles, both coming in with new personal bests at 1:03:24 and 1:03:64, respectively.
