Eby, Towne Among Many Earning G-MAC Indoor Track Awards

2018 G-MAC Indoor Track All-Conference Award Release

More awards are coming the way of the Hillsdale College track & field programs after the Great Midwest Athletic Conference released its indoor season honors late Monday night.

A total of 23 track athletes, 15 women and eight men, received All-Conference honors as voted on by the coaches after the conclusion of the indoor season.

In addition, freshman Zalonya Eby was named the G-MAC Women's Indoor Track Freshman of the Year and Andrew Towne was named G-MAC Women's Indoor Track Coach of the Year. Voting was conducted among conference coaches, and their voting took into account individual and team performances at the NCAA championships March 9-10 as well as the regular season and conference championship meet.

Eby was named the women's indoor track freshman of the meet last month and was the leading freshman point-scorer on the women's side of the meet. She led an outstanding effort by the Charger women, who won the 2018 G-MAC championship with 199 points, more than 100 more than second-place Walsh.

Towne repeated his coach of the year honor earned during cross country season in the fall, guiding his talented and balanced team to the G-MAC title in its first year in the conference. Only Hillsdale has won team championships in both cross country and track during the 2017-18 academic year so far.
