The Hillsdale College women's track team put together one of its finest all-around performances of the season at its signature home event.
The Chargers had 12 top-three finishes at the 51st Annual Hillsdale College Gina Relays, held over the weekend inside Frank "Muddy" Waters Stadium.
Leading the way over the weekend for Hillsdale was sprinter Victoria Wichman, who was simply terrific in every event she ran. Friday afternoon, she set a new school record in the 100 meter dash, completing the race in 11.97 seconds. Her toughest competition in that race came from her own teammates, as Ashlee Moran and Elise Farley completed a 1-2-3 sweep in the sport's shortest race.
Wichman also helped Hillsdale finish its top home event of the year on a high note, as she ran the second leg of the first-place 4x400 relay team. She was joined by Lorina Clemence, Abbie Porter and Allison Duber, who flirted with the school record with a winning time of 3:44.38. That team won the race by a ridiculous 11 seconds.
Duber was a double winner in her final Gina Relays performance, easily winning the 400 meter dash Friday afternoon with an NCAA privisional time of 55.38 seconds. Clemence and Porter weren't far behind her, each breaking 58 seconds in another top-three sweep by Hillsdale.
Wichman's outstanding weekend was wrapped up with a runner-up finish in the 200 with a mark of 24.86 seconds. Moran was third in that same race.
The 3000 meter steeplechase has always been a fan favorite, and Hillsdale was again extremely well represented in the Friday night event.
Senior Molly Oren was the top collegiate runner in the race, finishing third overall with an NCAA auto-qualifying time of 10:24.51. One of the runners who beat her was older sister Emily Oren, a 2016 Hillsdale College graduate and most-decorated athlete in women's track history. The nine-time NCAA Division II national champion won the race with a time of 10:08.35.
Finishing with an impressive PR in the steeplechase was sophomore Allysen Eads, who picked up an NCAA provo time of 10:33.79, That time is 11 seconds faster than her previous best time in the challenging, but fun event.
All-Americans Hannah McIntyre and Alexandra Whitford also earned more NCAA provo marks in their specialty events. McIntyre was fifth in Friday night's 5000 meter championship race with a time of 16:32.05. Whitford was tied for seventh in the pole vault championship Friday afternoon, clearing 3.72 meters.
