Molly Oren Opens Outdoor Season With GLIAC Athlete of the Week Honor

Charger senior Molly Oren got off to a terrific start to the 2017 outdoor track season, representing Hillsdale at the Stanford Invitational in California.

She put together an NCAA auto-qualifying time of 10:20.3 in the 3000 meter steeplechase, finishing well ahead of four runners from Power 5 conferences. That time currently ranks No. 1 in the GLIAC and No. 3 in the NCAA Division II.

Over the past two years, Oren has finished second and third in the steeplechase at the NCAA Division II championships.

Already an All-American seven times over in her amazing career, Oren is looking to finish strong for the Hillsdale College women's track team, who figures to once again be in contention for top honors both in the GLIAC and the NCAA this season.

In addition to her considerable athletic accomplishments, Oren last week received the President's Scholar Athlete Award as part of the Hillsdale College Athletic Hall of Fame ceremony. The award recognizes the high grade point average Oren has maintained throughout her academic career.
