The Charger women's track team was all over the map to open its 2017 outdoor season this weekend.

Members of the team were spread among three different sites, competing at Michigan State University, the Texas Relays and in northern California.

TEXAS RELAYS

A meet with more than 7,000 athletes is fit for a state the size of Texas. The Chargers deployed their best relay teams to run against some of the best track talent in the country regardless of division.

The 4x100 relay team of Victoria Wichman, Fiona Shea, Elise Farley and Allison Duber ran a time of 47.98 in its first outdoor competition, getting off to a strong start. Similarly, the 4x400 relay team of Duber, Wichman, Lorina Clemence and Shea also got off to a good start by running a 3:50.94.

SPARTAN INVITATIONAL

Kristin Freeman had the most notable performance for the Charger women at the closer-to-home Spartan Invitational Saturday, tying for second in the high jump by clearing 1.55 meters.

STANFORD INVITATIONAL

Two Chargers with All-American pedigrees ran against some high-level Division I competition at the Stanford Invitational in California.

Senior Molly Oren, last year's Division II runner-up in the 3000 meter steeplechase, opened her outdoor season with a time of 10:20.3 in the event, taking seventh place. Junior Hannah McIntyre ran the 5000 meter run in 16:49.74.
