Emily Oren, Coach Joe Lynn Win National Track Awards

USTFCCCA All-Region Release

Nine days after scooping up regional awards, Hillsdale College's Joe Lynn and Emily Oren were recognized on a national level for their excellence.

Thursday morning, Lynn was named the USTFCCCA Division II National Assistant Coach of the Year for indoor season.

Oren was named the USTFCCCA Division II Women's Track Athlete of the Year, also for indoor season.

It was the second consecutive year both have received the national organization's highest individual honor for an indoor campaign. Back on March 8, both were named winners of the same award, on the regional level.

Lynn's distance runners were a big reason why the Chargers finished as the NCAA runner-ups at the national championship meet last weekend in Kansas. In addition to guiding Oren to two individual championships, in the mile and 3000 meter run, the distance medley relay team was crowned national champions for the second year in a row. Hillsdale took first, second and fourth in Saturday's 3000, with Oren being joined on the podium by Kristina Galat and Hannah McIntyre, who ran incredible races to help Hillsdale accumulate 58 points in the meet.

What Oren has been doing is simply unprecedented. She now has five individual track national championships and was the anchor runner on two DMR national title winning teams. A year after setting the NCAA Division II meet record in the 3000, she broke another national meet record last weekend, in the mile run.
