Oops, She Did It Again

Oops, She Did It Again

Every time Emily Oren takes the track, it appears she's winning something. But over the weekend, she said "Gimme More."

For the second time this indoor season, Oren was named the GLIAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week. The award was announced Tuesday morning, and was chosen by the conference office.

A senior distance runner, Oren turned the competition inside out at last weekend's Hillsdale Wide Track Classic. She took first place in both Friday's mile run and Saturday's 800 meter run. She broke the school record in the mile with an unconverted time of 4:45.13, shattering a mark set by former national champion Amanda Putt.

She recorded a 2:11.18 in winning the 800 meter run the next day. Both marks put her in the NCAA Division II's top four.

Oren has been on the national radar for some time in track and field, and continuously kills the lights on the competition. She is already a four-time national champion between indoor and outdoor track and shines as the brightest morning star in every race she runs.
