Galat Becomes Third Charger to Win GLIAC Honor

The wealth is getting spread around the Hillsdale College women's track team.

Senior distance runner Kristina Galat became the third member of the team to win GLIAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week honors during the 2015-16 winter season. Her award was announced and chosen by the conference office Tuesday morning.

Galat, a national runner-up in two events last year, recorded the second-best time in the 3000 meter run in NCAA Division II at last weekend's Dan Gladstein Invitational, hosted by Indiana University. She finished third in the race with a time of 9:30.

Galat is also a two-time All-American in cross country. This was the first GLIAC weekly honor in her terrific career.

Previous winners of GLIAC recognition this season include senior Emily Oren and freshman Kriostin Freeman.
