Chargers Wrap Up Fall Play With Win Over Huntington

A warm, sunny afternoon greeted the Hillsdale College women's tennis team on its final day of fall competition Tuesday afternoon at the Mary Jane Delp Courts.

Hillsdale defeated Huntington in a non-conference dual match 6-1, entering the team's winter break on a winning note.

The Chargers won the doubles point thanks to wins by the team's number 2 and 3 doubles teams. Senior Kamryn Matthews and sophomore Sarah Hackman were 6-0 victors, while freshman Ellie Chawner teamed up with sophomore Sophia Spinazze for a 6-3 win.

Hackman picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles, and senior Katie Bell was a 6-3, 6-3 winner at No. 3 singles. Matthews was strong at No. 4 singles, winning 6-0, 6-2. Spinazze also picked up her second win of the day, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 singles.

Freshman Canela Luna pitched a shutout in her 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles, capping the victory for the Chargers.
