Hillsdale Shuts Out Kentucky Wesleyan in Women's Tennis 9-0

Playing as a nationally ranked team in Division II for the first time did nothing to slow down the Hillsdale College women's tennis team.

The Chargers blanked Kentucky Wesleyan College 9-0 Friday afternoon in Owensboro, extending their winning streak to five in a row. Hillsdale is now 7-4 overall and 2-0 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

Hillsdale enters play this weekend ranked 47th in NCAA Division II. It made its way into the national rankings in part due to dominanting performances like it had against the Panthers. Three of Hillsdale's singles matches ended in 6-0, 6-0 decisions and the combined score of the three doubles matches was 24-5.

Junior Halle Hyman took care of business at No. 1 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win. Sophomore Katie Bell didn't drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles, while freshman Hannah Cimpeanu was a 6-0, 6-1 victor at No. 3 singles.

Corinne Prost also posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles, while sophomore Kamryn Matthews won 6-1, 1-1 (ret.) at No. 5 singles. Madeline Bissett also won a 6-0, 6-0 decision at No. 6 singles.

Bell and Prost rolled to an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles, while Hyman and Cimpeanu were 8-2 winners at No. 2 doubles. Matthews and Bissett kept up their winning ways at No. 3 doubles with an 8-1 victory.
