October 27, 2012 - A day after suffering its first postseason defeat, the Hillsdale College women's tennis team turned around to record its first postseason victory Saturday afternoon.

The Chargers pulled out a 5-4 win over Saginaw Valley State in the second round of the 2012 GLIAC Tennis Tournament, being held at the Midland Community Tennis Center. Hillsdale, 10-6 on the season, will now play for fifth place against Ashland University in the final day of the tournament Sunday.

One of the important wins for the Chargers came courtesy of junior Morgan Linden, who cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.

The team's top doubles combo, Brittany Parks and Morgan Delp, pulled out a hard-fought win in the No. 1 flight, 9-7 over the Cardinals. It was the most dramatic win of the day for Hillsdale, who won four singles matches in straight sets.

Morgan Delp and sister Sydney Delp, lost a combined total of six games in their wins at Nos. 2 and 3 singles, respectively. Freshman Lindsay Peirce was victorious at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-1.

Hillsdale will play Ashland Sunday, with the winner being awarded fifth place in the final 2012 GLIAC standings. The loser will claim sixth place to finish out the season. The Eagles edged the Chargers 5-4 in a match that came right before Hillsdale's 7-game winning streak.
