Box Score

October 7, 2012 - It was a nomadic weekend for the Hillsdale College tennis team. The Chargers played three home matches, taking place in part, in three different venues in two different states. But all the hassle and exhaustion was well worth it.

Thanks to a clutch win at No. 2 singles by sophomore Morgan Delp, Hillsdale won its fourth in a row, 5-4, over Saginaw Valley State University Sunday. Hillsdale is now 6-4 on the season, and has won six of its last seven matches overall. The Cardinals fell to 6-6 with the loss.

Delp was the last player still competing for Hillsdale, with the match knotted up at 4-4. She took an early lead on her opponent, Meghan Woody, with a 6-3 win in set 1. But Woody came back to take the second set 6-1. The two players dueled well after the rest of the players were finished, with Delp emerging with a 7-5 win in a marathon third set, clinching the victory for Hillsdale.

Junior Morgan Linden also delivered a big win for the Chargers at No. 6 singles with a 6-2, 6-3 victory.

Other winners for the Chargers Sunday included senior Brittany Parks at No. 1 singles, freshman Lindsay Peirce at No. 4 singles and Sydney Delp and Peirce at No. 2 doubles.

This match was played indoors in Albion, due to rainy weather in the Hillsdale area Sunday. Friday's match against Michigan Tech had to be completed in Toledo when rain hit in the middle of Parks' and Peirce's matches.
