Box Score

October 6, 2012 - The Charger women's tennis team extended its current winning streak to three matches Saturday by pulling out a 5-4 win over Lake Superior State University on a day worthy of the name "Lake Superior."

Despite the chilly conditions, the Chargers stayed hot, improving to 5-4 overall and in the GLIAC, earning themselves a winning record for the first time in their two-year revivial history. Hillsdale will host Saginaw Valley State Sunday afternoon starting at 2:00.

A big key to the win for Hillsdale was the great performances by its doubles teams. Hillsdale went 3-0 in doubles matches, winning by combined scores of 24-9. Brittany Parks and Morgan Delp took home an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles, while Sydney Delp and Lindsay Peirce continued their strong play with an 8-1 win. Delp and Peirce have won seven straight matches as a team.

Freshmen Rachel Blaauw and Shannon O'Hearn were also victorious, 8-6, in a match that turned out to be huge for the Chargers, as the Lakers came back to win four out of the six singles flights.

Morgan Delp eased her way to a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles, while Peirce was a 6-2, 6-4 winner at No. 4 singles.
