September 14, 2012 - When it came to the doubles matches in Friday's GLIAC women's tennis matchup between Wayne State and Hillsdale College, the Chargers' doubles teams did just fine. It was a different story on the singles side of the match, however.
The Warriors swept all six singles flight matches and took the decision at No. 3 doubles to defeat Hillsdale 7-2 Friday afternoon at the Hillsdale College outdoor courts. The Chargers will hit the road Sunday to take on the University of Findlay in Ohio.
The Nos. 1 and 2 doubles teams for the Chargers each performed well in notching victories. Brittany Parks and Morgan Delp teamed up for an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles, while the freshman combo of Sydney Delp and Lindsay Perice (pictured) were victorious for the second straight match, winning 8-6. Despite the strong play from the four of them in doubles, they suffered some tough defeats in singles competition.
Parks lost a third-set tiebreaker 10-3 at No. 1 singles, while Morgan Delp battled down to the wire, losing 10-7 in set three.
