Hillsdale Splits With Ohio Northern, Case Western in Final Tune Up Before G-MACs

Saturday afternoon the Charger swim team traveled to Cleveland, Ohio for a tri meet with Case Western Reserve University and Ohio Northern University. This was the last regular meet of the season before the conference championships starting February 12. The team had a split finish, losing to Case Western (169.5–92.5) and winning against Ohio Northern (215–40).

The freshman started the meet off with the 1000 and all scored in the top. Freshman Leah Tunney took first (10:36.74), freshman Sarah Clark third (11:11.19), and freshman Anika Fassett fourth (11:13.84).

The Chargers also placed well in the 200 butterfly with senior Catherine Voisin taking first (2:10.62), freshman Madison Pyhel third (2:15.93), and sophomore Anna Clark fourth (2:20.11). In the 100 butterfly, Fassett finished third (1:00.56)

Tunney scored another first place in the 200 backstroke (2:06.97), and junior Katherine Heeres took third (2:10.01).

Charger sprinters all had close finishes in the 100 and 50 freestyle. For the 100, Freshman Marie Taylor took second (55.11), Voisin fourth (57.19), Fassett fifth (57.46), and sophomore Maddie Breay sixth (57.81). In the 50 freestyle, Heeres took second (24.92), and sophomore Carissa Henderson finished fourth (25.77).

In the 100 backstroke, Tunney again scored in the top tier with a second place finish (1:00.58), and freshman Sydney Slepian took fifth (1:03.73).

In 100 breaststroke, sophomore Taylor Boyle took second (1:11.36), and in the 200 breaststroke, Breay took third (2:34.20). Breay had another strong third place finish in the 200 freestyle (2:01.86).

In the 200 IM, senior Danielle Snell tied for second (2:16.78).

In the 500 freestyle, S. Clark finished third (5:26.27), and Pyhel fourth (5:27.45).

The 400 medley A-relay of Heeres, Addis, Voisin, and Taylor finished second (4:07.26), and the 200 freestyle A-relay of Taylor, Henderson, Heeres, and Tunney also finished second (1:40.05).
