Hillsdale Swimmers Pick Up Pair of Wins

Friday evening the Hillsdale College swimming team traveled to Indiana Wesleyan University for a tri-meet with Bethel College. The Chargers won against Indiana Wesleyan University 189-69 and Bethel College 183.50-70.50.

The Charger freshman swept 1-2 finishes in multiple events. In the 1650, freshman Madison Pyhel finished first (18:13.12) and freshman Sarah Clark took second (18:43.13). In the 200 freestyle, freshman Leah Tunney took first (1:58.16), and freshman Marie Taylor took second (2:02.63).

The freshmen continued to dominate with more first and second place finishes. In the 200 backstroke Tunney again took first (2:08.20). In the 200 butterfly, freshman Anika Fassett took first (2:16.98), and in the 200 IM Taylor finished first (2:21.90). In the 100 butterfly, Pyhel finished second (1:00.92)

The Charger sophomores had a strong showing in the 500 freestyle with Maddie Breay taking first (5:28.87), and Stefanie Walker second (5:38.60).

The team scored in the top three in every event.

In the 100 freestyle, junior Katherine Heeres won (54.67), and senior Danielle Snell took third (56.84).

In the 100 backstroke, senior Bailey Bickerstaff finished second (1:03.26), and sophomore Carissa Henderson was third (1:04.11).

In the 200 butterfly, sophomore Anna Clark finished second (2:18.50).

In the 200 breaststroke, senior Victoria Addis finished second (2:39.69) and freshman Sydney Slepian finished third (2:40.88).

In the 200 IM, senior Catherine Voisin finished second (223.07)

The 200 medley A-relay of Tunney, Addis, Fassett, and Rao finished first (1:51.45). The 400 freestyle B-really of Fassett, Pyhel, Voisin, and Taylor (3:46.60) beat the A-relay of Slepian, Henderson, Snell, and Heeres in a close 1-2 finish (3:48.12)
