The Hillsdale College women's swimming team made its home and 2019-20 season debut Saturday afternoon, losing a close meet to regional foe Davenport University.

The Panthers edged the Chargers 165.5-133.5 in the dual meet. The scoring difference was accounted for due to Davenport points scored in diving events. 

Two freshmen made their debut by winning two individual events. Freshman Marie Taylor won the 50 freestyle (25.06) and the 100 freestyle (55.34). She was also part of the winning 200 freestyle relay. Leah Tunney won both the 100 backstroke (58.84) and 500 freestyle (5:12.53). Tunney also placed second in the 200 IM (2:13.78).

Chargers went 1-2 in the 100 butterfly with Senior Catherine Vosin taking first (1:00.76) and freshman Anika Fassett in a close second (1:01.59). Voisin was also part of the winning 200 freestyle relay and finished third in the 200 butterfly (2:17.66).

Senior Katherine Heeres finished first in the 200 freestyle (1:58.95) and second in the 200 backstroke (2:11.03). Heeres was part of the winning 200 freestyle relay and finished third in the 50 freestyle (25.42).

Freshman Madison Pyhel made her debut with two second places in the 1000 (10:51.47) and 200 butterfly (2:15.36).

The 200 freestyle relay of Heeres, Voisin, Rao, and Taylor finished first (1:41.33), and the 200 medley relay of Tunney, Addis, Voisin, and Taylor took second (1:51.37).

Other top finishes included freshman Sarah Clark taking third in the 1000 (11:10.70), senior Danielle Snell taking third in the 200 freestyle (2:03.89), senior Victoria Addis finishing third in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.01), and sophomore Maddie Break finishing third in the 200 breaststroke (2:41.22).
