Ellingson Wins Second G-MAC Swimmer of the Week Honor

As the regular season draws to a close, Charger senior Anika Ellingson is determined to put together her best swimming performances at the most crucial time of year.

After a pair of excellent outings over the weekend, Ellingson won her second Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week award. The honor was announced and chosen by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.

Ellingson had a busy weekend, competing for Hillsdale at Olivet and Ohio Northern. Across those two meets, she registered winning times in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.24) and the 200 breaststroke (2:29.03). She added a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay and a third in the 200 IM.

This marks the second time this year, and fourth time in her career, Ellingson has been named the G-MAC's top swimmer in a given week. She enters next month's G-MAC/MEC Championships with the conference's best time in the 100 breaststroke and second-best time in the 200 breaststroke.

This award is the 27th time a Charger athlete has been named player of the week by the G-MAC office in 2018-19. Ellingson is one of 20 different athletes to win that award this year. She originally hails from Litchfield, Minnesota.
