Seniors DeTar and Ellingson Help Set Pool Relay Record on Senior Day

Sunday afternoon Hillsdale College women's swimming team fell to Saginaw Valley State University 132.50-90.50 at the last home meet of the season. Before the meet, the program's four graduating seniors, Suzanne DeTar, Anika Ellingson, Tiffany Farris, and Grace Houghton were recognized for their fine careers representing the Chargers.

Despite the loss, Hillsdale's 400 medley relay of Heeres, Ellingson, Voisin, and DeTar took first (4:00.62) and broke the pool record from 2004. The 200 freestyle relay of Heeres, Rao, Vita, and DeTar also took first (1:41.49).

The chargers swept the 200 butterfly with junior Catherine Voisin taking first (2:11.87), freshman Anna Clark second (2:14.17), and senior Grace Houghton third (2:16.59).

Senior Anika Ellingson finished second in the 100 freestyle (57.11) and second in the 200 breaststroke (2:25.33).

Sophomore Mary Vita finished second in the 200 freestyle (2:03.59), and third in the 100 freestyle (57.16).

Sophomore Katherine Heeres took second in the 200 backstroke (2:10.60) and was part of both winning relays.

Freshman Maddie Breay finished third in the 200 breaststroke and third in the 1000 (11:26.96), sophomore Hannah Wilkens took third in the 500 freestyle (5:36.80), junior Danielle LeBleu finished third in the 400 IM (5:53.71). Senior Suzanne DeTar took third in the 50 freestyle (26.04) and was part of both winning relays, freshman Stefanie Walker finished third in the 200 freestyle (2:07.31).
