Swimming Team Wraps Up Regular Season With Split vs. Ohio Northern, Case Western

The Hillsdale College swim team won against Ohio Northern University 162-125 and lost to Case Western Reserve University 184 – 107 Saturday afternoon at the McAvoy Natatorium. The day was dedicated to the team's seniors, Peyton Bowen and Theresa Smith as their last home swim meet and last meet before conference championships.

Junior captain and previous G-MAC swimmer of the week, Anika Ellingson, won both the 100 breaststroke (1:07.05), and 200 breaststroke (2:29.84), and was also part of the winning 400 medley relay of Heeres, Ellingson, Houghton, and Vita (4:03.32).

Katherine Heeres, a previous GMAC swimmer of the week, won the 200 freestyle (1:59.42) and was the only swimmer to break two minutes. Heeres continued to take the lead in the 400 IM (4:48.97) and followed with a second place in the 200 backstroke (2:12.84).

Grace Houghton had strong swims all weekend and continued her winning streak in the 200 butterfly after an amazing second half of her race (2:13.15). Freshman Hannah Wilkens placed first in the 500 freestyle (5:23.63) while Houghton placed second (5:29.63).

Other notable swims include junior Tiffany Farris who finished second in the 1000 after out touching third place by eight one hundredths of a second (11:38.28). Wilkens swam the 200 butterfly for the first time this season for a strong third place finish (2:16.42). Victoria Addis broke 26 seconds in her 50 freestyle for third place (25.88). The 200 freestyle relay of Farris, Addis, Rao, and Vita finished the meet with a second place (1:44.04).
