Swim Team Wins Tri-Meet Against DePauw and Olivet

The Hillsdale College swim team had a double win against DePauw University and Olivet College Saturday afternoon at the Hillsdale McAvoy Natatorium. Freshman Katherine Heeres finished first in all three of her individual events. She started with a 1:59.02 in the 200 freestyle, 1:01.57 in the 100 backstroke, and 1:02.89 in the 100 IM and was part of the 400 freestyle A-relay finishing second.

Charger sprint finished first, second, third in the 100 freestyle with Vita leading the way (56.78), LeBleu second (57.20), and Farris close behind (57.74).

Charger breaststroke took first and second in both the 50 breaststroke and 100 breaststroke with Junior Anika Ellingson winning the 50 (30.61) and 100 (1:07.60). Victoria Addis was a close second in both the 50 (31.90) and 100 (1:10.88).

Freshman Hannah Wilkens finished first in the 1000 (11:11.76) and Catherine Voisin took second (11:34.32). Voisin had another second place finish in the 50 butterfly (28.20).

Grace Houghton Won the 100 butterfly (1:03.04) and had a strong performance in the 500 freestyle for second place (5:31.97).

Both A-relays finished second starting with the 200 medley of Farris, Ellingson, Rao, and Vita (1:52.41) and finishing with the 400 freestyle of Vita, Heeres, LeBleu, and Farris (3:50.76).

Other notable swims included freshman Mary Vita in the 200 freestyle (2:04.99), a second, third, fourth finish in the 50 backstroke by Farris (29.77), Bickerstaff (30.10), and Matti (30.62). Charger sprinters swam well with Emma Rao second in the 50 freestyle (25.83) and Taylor Steyer third (27.36). Matti had a strong 100 backstroke with a second place finish (1:04.86). Bickerstaff had a great 50 butterfly for third place (28.46).
