Charger Swimming team Opens Weekend Road Trip With Win

The Hillsdale College swim team returned to the pool Friday night with a win on the road against Saginaw Valley State University, 157-123.

The Chargers started the meet with a first place finish in the 200 medley relay swum by Naofa Noll, Cayley Cruickshank, Emily Shallman, and Rachael Kurtz.

Junior Zoe Hopkins followed suit with a first place finish in the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 10:59.30. Sophomore Emily Shallman, junior Mikalah Smith and junior Naofa Noll then took first, second, and third place in the 200 free respectively. Junior Sarah Rinaldi took first place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:03.52 while sophomore Emily Balog took second.

Senior Rachael Kurtz took first place in the 50 Freestyle while later placing first place in the 100 freestyle. Shallman earned another first place finish in the 500 Freestyle while Mikalah Smith took second. The Chargers then took first second and third place finish in the 100 Butterfly swum by Jennifer Wheeler, Rinaldi, and Noll respectively.

The Chargers opened up a rare two-day, two-meet road trip successfully in Saginaw, and will try to finish off the weekend right when they take on Olivet and Manchester at 1:00 Saturday at Olivet College.
