2011-12: Finished a successful junior year with personal top times in the 100 Freestyle ….Turned in a third best time for Hillsdale in the 100 freestyle with a time of 52.83….Member of the 200 Medley Relay, 200 Freestyle Relay, and 800 Freestyle Relay that qualified for Division II B-cuts… Made an individual B-cut in the 500 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle, and 200 Backstroke at the GLIAC Championships.
2010-11: Sarah made the B-cuts in the 200 free in 1:53.89, 500 free with a time of 5:06.65, and the 200 back with a time of 2:06.65.She is the school record holder in the 200 and 500 free, the 200 back, 200 Medley relay, as well as the 200, 400,and 800 free relays.She placed 5th in the 500 free at the GLIAC Championship meet. She also received Academic All GLIAC honors.
2009-10: Had a highly successful freshman campaign for the Chargers highlighted by earning several NCAA B-cut times…She placed 4th in the 200 back at the Calvin Winter Invite with a time of 2:09.06…Earned her first NCAA B-cut time in the 100 free at the Calvin Invite with a time of 53.30…She had a pair of top-three finishes at the UIndy tri-meet taking first in the 50 free with a time of 25.27, and second in the 200 back with a time of 2:13.95…Was a member of the 200 medley relay that took second at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Invite with a time of 1:53.33…At the 2010 GLIAC Championships she took 9th in the 100 free clocking in at 54.92…She also placed 8th in the 200 free at GLIACs with a time of 1:56.21, her second NCAA B-cut of the year…Leitner was also an important member of the 200 medley, 400 medley, and 800 free relay teams at the GLIAC Championships.
High School: A well-rounded and high-achieving student-athlete at Henderson High School in Henderson, Texas...Only athlete on her school’s swimming team for the first three years of her career, and in each of those years, finished in the top 10 in the state in two different events; the 50 free and 100 backstroke...Named First-Team All-State a total of eight times, four times in two events...Named the district female swimmer of the year in 2006, 2008 and 2009...Holds the region’s record for the 100 free, a mark she set as a senior...Best finish in the state meet was third in the 50 free, a mark of 24.63 seconds she made in 2006...Also competed for the Champion Aquatic club team under the direction of coach Clark Wilson...Member of the school’s band for four years, and was in the Key Club and Book Club in 2008-09...Born April 23th, 1991...Parents are Mark and Margaret...Is a Political Economy major...Named to the Dean's List in Fall 2009, and Spring 2010...Member of the Dow Journalism Program, as well as Athletes in Action...Served as the sports editor of The Collegian, the Hillsdale College student newspaper, in 2011-12.
