The Charger women's basketball team played an exhibition game at Division I Morehead State in Kentucky Friday night, and hung around until the very end, losing a 77-68 decision.

Hillsdale officially opens the 2019-20 season at home Friday, Nov. 8 with a 10:30 a.m. home matchup with Saginaw Valley State.

In Friday's exhibition, the Chargers played well for much of the game and led 31-27 at halftime. But Morehead State held a 34-22 scoring edge in the third quarter, flipping control of the game into its favor. Hillsdale clamped down defensively in the fourth quarter, but couldn't finish off a comeback.

Sophomore guard Grace Touchette had a solid game for the Chargers, scoring a team-high 21 points on 5-for-11 shooting from the field. She drained eight of her nine free throws and had 5 rebounds and 3 assists in 33 minutes of action.

Freshman Sydney Mills led Hillsdale with 10 rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench, nine of them on the defensive side.

Freshman Courtney Krol made her first appearance in a Hillsdale uniform and had 12 points in a starting role. Sophomore Lauren Daffenberg also scored 12 off the bench while senior Sydney Anderson, playing in her home state, had 10 points, making all four of her free throws.
