The Charger women's basketball team fell behind 9-0 in the opening moments and couldn't recover in a 68-60 loss to Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio Thursday night. The loss ends Hillsdale's three-game winning streak and makes the team 12-8 overall and 10-6 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

The Cavaliers got off to a quick start in this game and held the lead throughout, forcing the Chargers to play from behind all night. Hillsdale shot just 23 percent in the first half, and trailed by as many as 13 points early in the third quarter.

Led by the Allies – Dewire and Dittmer – Hillsdale closed the gap and outscored the Cavs in the third quarter 20-19. Hillsdale closed to within four points after a 3-pointer by Makenna Ott midway through the fourth quarter, but could get no closer.

Walsh shot the ball just a little bit better in this game – 44 percent from the field and 41 percent on threes, compared to 37 from the field and 29 percent from threes for Hillsdale. The Chargers got the job done boards as they usually do, with a 40-32 edge on the glass. Grabbing 12 of those rebounds was their gritty point guard Allie Dewire.

She had a terrific game, going 7-for-14 from the field, scoring 19 points to go along with 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. Seven of those points came in the fourth quarter.

Allie Dittmer had 14 points and 8 rebounds and Ott had 10 points and 5 rebounds.
