Box Score

Withstanding several quick scoring runs and some prolific 3-point shooting, the Charger women's basketball team emerged with an 80-69 win over Tiffin University in Ohio Saturday afternoon.

Hillsdale is now 13-12 overall and 7-11 in conference play.

More than half of Tiffin's made field gals (13 of 25) came from behind the 3-point arc. The Dragons outscored the Chargers 39-15 on 3-point shots. However, Hillsdale dominated other parts of the game that helped negate that edge, and the timing of some of the Chargers' 3-point shots was paramount.

Sophomore Makenna Ott accounted for all five of the team's made 3-point shots, going 5-for-11 from downtown on her way to a season-high 19 points. Three of those 3-point baskets came in a fourth quarter that saw Hillsdale outscore Tiffin 25-18.

Hillsdale outrebounded Tiffin 44-34 and owned the paint, outscoring the Dragons in that area 42-17. The Chargers shot 53 percent from the field in the game, and held Tiffin to 37 percent shooting for the game.

Sophomore Allie Dewire came oh-so-close to a triple double, finishing with 14 points, nine rebounds and nine assists. Her overall play helped engineer a well-balanced offensive attack for the Chargers.

Three players – Brittany Gray, Julia Wacker and Allie Dittmer – had 10 points apiece. Junior Jessica De Gree came off the bench to pop in eight. Dimmer and De Gree combined for 10 consecutive Hillsdale points early in the fourth quarter to helped give the team breathing room.
