Hitting the road in the middle of Christmas Break doesn't often result in a win for the traveling team. But the Hillsdale College women's basketball team turned in a terrific performance against a good team Thursday night.

The Chargers played a steady four quarters, and came away with a 68-65 win over the University of Indianapolis in a key regional matchup in Indiana. Hillsdale is now 8-5 on the season, heading into the resumption of conference play next week. The Greyhounds fell to 7-4.

Defensively, Hillsdale limited Indianapolis to just two made 3-point baskets and 13 percent from behind the arc for the game. The Chargers also picked up 12 steals, half of those coming courtesy of junior guard Maddy Reed.

Hillsdale also played smart positional defense, as shown by being whistled for just 13 fouls in the entire game, holding the Greyhounds to 12 free throw attempts.

On the offensive side of the ball, the five Charger starters scored 64 of the team's 68 points, and played 183 of 200 total minutes on the court. Those five starters all took turns making key shots and keeping the Greyhound defense guessing on one possession after another.

Junior center Allie Dittmer led the balanced attack with 17 points, going 8-for-13 from the field. SHe also collected six rebounds and had two steals while committing just one foul in a game that was equal parts strong and intelligent.

Sophomore guard Allie Dewire added 13 points, while senior guard Morgan Blair scored a season-high 12, draining two 3-point baskets. Sophomore Makenna Ott also scored 12, and Reed had 10 points to go along with her six steals.
