Charger Women Move to 4-0

Make it 4-for-4 for the 2016-17 Charger women's basketball team.

Hillsdale made a long trek to neighboring Wisconsin, and came away with a 72-50 win over the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers in a regional tilt. Hillsdale is now 4-0 on the season.

Despite the long bus ride, the Chargers got off to a strong start, once again building an early lead and maintaining that lead throughout the game. Hillsdale led 22-13 after one quarter, making six free throws to make the most of its possessions.

By halftime the lead grew to 43-29, and the Chargers never let the Rangers build up any sort of momentum after that. Hillsdale forced 23 turnovers and scored 22 points off those turnovers, thanks to balance and a consistent attacking mindset.

Four players scored in double figures, led by 11 from junior Maddy Reed. Senior Morgan Blair, sophomore Makenna Ott and juniro Allie Dittmer each chipped in with 10, while sophomore Michele Boykin came off the bench to spark the Chargers with 9 points and 3 steals in 16 minutes.

Hillsdale held Parkside to 35 percent shooting, and the Rangers attempted just eight free throws in the game, showing the intelligent defense the Chargers played throughout.
