Wildcats Take Down Chargers

Box Score

The Charger women's basketball team was held to its second-fewest points, and worst 3-point shooting percentage of the season in a 64-53 loss at Northern Michigan University Saturday afternoon.

Hillsdale is now 8-8 overall and 5-7 in the GLIAC on the season. The Wildcats pulled out in front of the Chargers in the conference standings with the win, and are 6-6 in the GLIAC.

After getting out to a strong start in the form of a 20-point first quarter, the Chargers could not get into any kind of offensive rhythm throughout the rest of the game, as Northern Michigan limited them to 33 points over the game's final 30 minutes.

A Makenna Ott jumper made the score 52-51 NMU with 5:47 left in the fourth quarter. But the Cats finished the game on a 12-2 run, limiting the Chargers to 1-for-11 shooting from the field in that stretch.

Hillsdale shot 35 percent from the floor in the game, and made just five of its 30 3-point attempts. NMU got its game-ending run going on back-to-back 3-point shots, after it had missed nine of its first 11 shots from that spot on the floor in the game.

The Wildcats were able to overcome 21 turnovers with a 47-31 edge on the boards. No Hillsdale player had more than 5 rebounds in the game.

Junior guard Morgan Blair led the team in scoring with 9, playing a team-season high 31 minutes. Freshmen Brittany Gray and Makenna Ott each tallied 7. Cromer led the team with 5 boards.
