The fourth quarter was one to forget for the Hillsdale College women's basketball team.

The Chargers and University of Findlay Oilers were tied at 43 in their GLIAC matchup Saturday in Ohio. But Findlay went on a 36-17 run to end the game, a 79-60 win for the host Oilers.

Hillsdale falls to 7-5 overall and 4-4 in the GLIAC.

The Oilers finished the third quarter strong, then outscored the Chargers 29-13 in the fourth quarter, bombing in shots from all over the court, effectively countering Hillsdale's zone defense. Findlay got hot from the field at the right time, while the Chargers were never able to get into a smooth offensive flow.

Hillsdale shot 31 percent from the floor in the game (21-of-68) and struggled from 3-point land, making 7 of 25 shots from that spot of the floor, a 28 percent clip. Hillsdale did an excellent job on its offensive boards, snagging 18 rebounds, but was only able to score eight second-chance points in the loss.

The Oilers were particularly effective at making Hillsdale pay for its mistakes. Findlay scored 22 points off 20 Charger turnovers, while the Chargers picked up just 8 points off turnovers.

Freshman forward Makenna Ott led Hillsdale with 13 pointsand 5 rebounds, making all four of her free throws. Freshman Brittany Gray added 11, while junior Becca Scherting had 10 points and 9 rebounds. Junior guard Morgan Blair had 8 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
