Box Score

A 25-0 run early in the second half propelled Ashland University to an 83-68 win over the Hillsdale College women's basketball team Saturday afternoon at the Kates Gymnasium in Ashland, Ohio. The Chargers fell to 11-12 overall and 10-9 in the GLIAC with the loss.

Hillsdale plays its final road game of the 2013-14 regular season next Thursday at Malone before coming home for two straight.

The loss was just Hillsdale's second since Jan. 23, and it came in a game where its best player was limited, while another player proivided a big spark off the bench.

Junior Megan Fogt was hampered from the start of the game with foul trouble, having been whistled for two fouls just five minutes into the game. Ashland kept her from finding much of an offensive rhythm, as she finished with 8 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks in 24 minutes on the court.

A bright spot in the game came from sophomore forward Alex Moynes, who easily set career-highs with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 blocked shots in 20 minutes of action. She saw her playing time increase thanks to Fogt's foul trouble, and she took full advantage of her opportunity to show Charger fans a glimpse of her considerable talent and athleticism.

Hillsdale opened the game red hot from the floor, hitting six of its first nine 3-point field goal attempts in the game. The Chargers held a one-point lead at halftime, and eventually got ahead 40-36, when the Eagles exploded.

Ashland went on a 25-0 run over just a 9:20 span in the second half to blow the game open. Ashland scored points on 10 consecutive possessions, making eight straight fields goals, three of them 3-pointers, to distance itself from the Chargers.

Hillsdale shot just 33 percent from the floor in the game, and were outrebounded by the Eagles 48-39.

Sophomore guard Kelsey Cromer scored 11 points and was 3-for-5 from 3-point range. Junior Kadie Lowery added 9 points and three made 3-pointers in the game for Hillsdale.
