Storm Finish Strong in Victory Over Hillsdale

Box Score

The Hillsdale College women's basketball team suffered a 62-54 loss at the hands of Lake Erie College at home Thursday night. The loss drops the Chargers to 5-10 overall and 4-7 in the conference, while the Storm notched their second GLIAC win of the season.

Hillsdale will host defending Division II national champion Ashland University at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Hillsdale College Arena.

Lake Erie forced twice as many turnovers as it committed (24-12), and finished the game making 10 of its last 12 free throws over the game's final 2:03. An Angela Bisaro jumper brought the Chargers to within two points, 52-50, with 2:37 to play in the second half. But from there, the Storm were able to keep their aggressive style of play, taking the ball to the basket and drawing fouls from the Chargers. Then, LEC was able to convert on those opportunities. Meanwhile, Hillsdale was able to score on just two of its final eight possessions.

The Storm outscored the Chargers 10-4 over the game's final 123 seconds.

The loss ruined a signature performance by Charger junior forward Megan Fogt. Five days after she set a career-high with 5 blocked shots, she improved on that performance with a career-best 7 swats, which is the third-most in a single game in school history. She also scored 17 points and grabbed 21 rebounds in the game.

It's Fogt's fourth 20-rebound game of the season anbd her 12th double-double. She now has 37 blocked shots on the season, which is tied for the second-most in a season in school history. She tied Katie Cezat's blocked shots total from the 2007-08 campaign with her seventh and final block of the night Thursday. Only Cezat herself has ever blocked more than 37 shots in a season in Hillsdale College women's basketball history, that coming with her historic 100-block season in 2008-09.

Sophomore guard Kelsey Cromer scored 14 points, making three 3-point shots for the Chargers. Bisaro has 6 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks and 3 steals in the game.
