Michigan Tech Knocks Off Hillsdale in OT

Box Score

Michigan Tech's Kelcey Traynoff hit a 3-pointer from a tough angle with 6 seconds left in regulation to force overtime in Saturday's GLIAC clash between her Huskies and the Hillsdale College Chargers.

Michigan Tech's Mackenzie Traynoff then hit a 3-pointer on the opening possession of overtime, helping the Huskies to keep momentum and defeat Hillsdale 78-75 Saturday afternoon at the Hillsdale College Arena.

The Chargers are now 2-5 overall and 1-3 in the conference, and will host Northern Michigan University at 6 p.m. Monday in its final game before Christmas Break.

The Chargers played well for much of the game, maintaining the lead through a large percentage of the contest, only to lose in frustrating fashion. Hillsdale outrebounded Michigan Tech in the game 48-42, and got another strong performance from junior forward Megan Fogt, who kept her double-double streak alive with 18 points and 16 rebounds. But those two clutch 3-pointers by the Huskies proved to be enough to escape with the win.

Hillsdale senior Angela Bisaro turned in a terrific all-around performance, moving to, and without the ball, extremely well throughout the game. She totaled 8 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocked shots in 33 efficient minutes on the floor.

Sophomore Alex Moynes provided some power off the bench for the Chargers with 3 blocked shots in 5 minutes on the court. Sophomore Madison Berry and junior Brooke Borowski each scored 9, while sophomore Kayla Geffert (pictured) scored a season-high 13 points in 14 minutes off the bench. Geffert was aggressive with the basketball, and came up with a big steal in overtime that gave the Chargers a chance to take the lead inside the last 25 seconds.
