The Hillsdale College women's basketball team learned something about itself Saturday evening.

Less than 24 hour safter absorbing a heartbreaking loss at the buzzer, the Chargers put together an impressive game from start to finish in a 69-54 win over host Illinois-Springfield in the second day of a GLIAC/GLVC Crossover Challenge.

Hillsdale is 1-3 overall and opens conference play on Thursday, Dec. 5 at Northwood.

Junior forward Megan Fogt led the way for Hillsdale with another huge game. One day after setting career-highs in both points (29) and rebounds (27), she once again dominated the paint with 27 points and 9 rebounds for Hillsdale. She went 12-for-15 from the floor and was on the receiving end of some excellent passes from her teammates.

The Chargers set the tone early on, jumping out to a 9-0 lead in the game's first few minutes, thanks in part to a pair of 3-point swishes by senior guard Marissa DeMott. The team had its best shooting performance from the floor in a game on the young season (48.1 percent) and forced 23 turnovers.

DeMott, junior guard Brooke Borowski and senior forward Angela Bisaro each tossed in nine points in the win for the Chargers. Sophomore Sarah Theut came off the bench to give the team some productive minutes, especially in the first half, when she had four points, two rebounds, one assist, one steal and one blocked shot. Sophomore Abbey Lovat added six points in 14 minutes off the bench.
