From the Range Master...
July is a great month to celebrate our Nation with family and friends. We had a busy July 4^th holiday weekend here at the range. It’s always encouraging to see those who value our shooting heritage out enjoying the nice weather. Our Open Shoot Saturdays will continue throughout the month. I hope you will take time to visit this fine facility built by friends of Hillsdale College.
Our Couples for Liberty camp was a great success. We had visitors from Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Oklahoma, California, Illinois, New Jersey, and Arizona. Everyone seemed to have a great time learning the fundamentals of the Pistol, Shotgun, and Archery sports. It was exciting to see everyone smiling and having fun. Many of our guests were already making plans to shoot more often with their new skills and love for the shooting sports. Dates for our 2018 camps are listed below. We hope you’ll reserve a spot to attend this unique learning experience!
The NSCA “Charger Classic” Sporting Clays Tournament is right around the corner. It’s hard to believe the students will soon return to campus, but we look forward to kicking off the fall season with this Tournament August 26^th. You can sign up on IClays today! Crowds last year loved the course and I am sure this year will be even better. We have three full hook-up RV sites available and you are welcome to reserve a spot for any extended stay at the Halter Center.

Charger Spotlight | Kie Kababik

Senior Kie Kababik, majoring in Marketing Management, “fell in love with shotgun shooting" the first time his father took him trap shooting. Speaking of his favorite memory with the team, the 2017 National Championship, Kie says: “It was great to see every member of the team compete at their highest level to ensure our 4^th straight National Championship.” After graduation, Kie intends to start a job in marketing and plans to continue shooting on the weekends. Kie says his experience on the Shotgun Team has taught him “how to turn the very individualized sport of shooting into a team sport," adding that the experience "has got to be my favorite part of attending Hillsdale College. I have grown so close to the men and women on this team and spent so much time together; in vans heading to competition, practicing in the -10 degree weather, hanging out in our free time. I'm very thankful for my experience thus far at Hillsdale and look forward to next year.”

The Halter Center has a new RV Park with four campsites. Each site has water, sewer, and electrical connections. Our Archery building also has men's and women's showers available to range guests. Contact Bart Spieth for availability.
