Charger Spotlight | Emanuel Boyer
Senior Emanuel Boyer’s interest in Hillsdale began when he participated in the “Liberty and Learning” youth camp at the age of twelve: “Ever since then, I kind of just assumed this is where I would end up.” An economics and psychology double major, Emanuel found his niche with the team, “The very first night of my very first fall training camp….I had just met all of these older students who were incredible at shooting….They welcomed me into their group like a family. I knew overnight that I had found the most important facet of my life.” After graduation, Emanuel plans to attend medical school in hopes of becoming a surgeon. Shooting will always be a part of Emanuel’s life: “Immediately after graduation I probably won’t have the money to shoot much, but I’m never selling my gun. At this point, it has become a piece of who I am.” For Emanuel, Hillsdale College’s motto Virtus tenatmine gaudet, “means never settling. Never stop pushing yourself, never get comfortable, never decide that something is good enough.” He has applied this to his shooting career as well saying, “shooting continues to teach me to never give up, and that there is always margin for improvement.” Emanuel concluded saying, “I’m truly grateful for the opportunity and experience Hillsdale College has given me. Hillsdale is not a perfect institution, but it is the only institution in the world where I could lead the rewarding, enriching life that I do.”
