Hillsdale Takes 2nd at the 2018 SCTP Collegiate Nationals Shoot

The Hillsdale College Shotgun Sports Team came away from the biggest shoot of the Fall with medals in a variety of events. From October 26th through 28th, the Chargers competed at the SCTP Collegiate National Championships in Marengo, Ohio. The team of nine placed second in Division 3 (teams with 10 or less athletes) in each of the main events (American Trap, American Skeet, and Sporting Clays) as well as second High Overall. The Chargers missed the top spot on the podium by just 13 targets out of the possible 3,000.

Senior Matt Grunzweig finished in fifth place in the individual men’s HOA with 575/600. Senior Amanda Klug finished tenth among the ladies. Junior Lucas Pieraccini and Senior Emanuel Boyer also had standout performances while the team’s trio of freshman, Thomas Rodgers, Brandon Korhonen, and Anthony LaMacchia, all put up scores for the team. Sophomore and new team Barrett Moore rounded out the team’s leaderboard with a score in trap.

The Chargers now look forward to the Spring and the ACUI National Championships at the end of March. They are looking to defend their five consecutive division 3 titles at the event.
