Hillsdale College Shotgun Team Wins Annual Fall Invite

The Hillsdale College Shotgun Sports Team hosted their annual Fall Invitational on September 29th. In attendance were three other local colleges and a number of recruits for the team. The Chargers came away victorious with a score of 851 out of a possible 1000 targets. Michigan State University finished second (769) and Purdue third (683). Individually, senior Matt Grunzweig was the top finisher with 177/200 and junior Lucas Pieraccini tied for second with 175/200. Freshman Thomas Rodgers (168), senior Emanuel Boyer (167), and freshman Brandon Korhonen (160) also finished in the top 10.

The event has a bit of an unusual format with competitors shooting 50 trap, 25 wobble, 25 bunker, and 100 sporting clays. The Hillsdale team showed improvement in trap and was nearly perfect in wobble. Many struggled in the challenging sporting clays course, but Hillsdale fared better than any of the other competing schools.

Up next for the Chargers is a registered Amateur Trapshooting Association shoot on October 6th held at Hillsdale’s John Halter Shooting Sports Education Center.
