Hillsdale Wins Final Game in Florida

The week-long trip to Florida for Spring Break ended on a positive note for the Hillsdale College softball team.

After suffering a frustrating 4-3 extra-innings loss to Wayne State early in the day Saturday, the Chargers rebounded to post a 4-3 win over Indiana (PA). Hillsdale's trip concludes with a 6-13 overall record.

The Chargers will play their home and G-MAC opener this weekend, hosting Ohio Dominican and Ohio Valley Saturday and Sunday.

The Warriors scored once in the top of the seventh and once in the top of the eighth innings to come back from a 3-2 deficit to upend Hillsdale in Saturday's first game. Wayne State outhit Hillsdale 12-6 in the game.

Enjoying a productive day at the plate oin her birthday, senior Katie Kish was 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored vs. Wayne State. Junior Sam Catron hit her second home run of the trip and Madison Stoner kept up her steady play at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a run batted in.

In the win over the Crimson Hawks, Hillsdale plated three runs in the fourth to erase a 2-1 deficit. Kish dealt the lethal blow with a two-run triple in that inning for the Chargers.

Sophomore Emma Johnson had a run-scoring single and freshman Reagan Gensiejewski scored a run, had a single and drove in a run to finish her first Florida trip with a team-leading .429 batting average.
