Erin Hunt and Emma Johnson had home collegiate debut days to remember Friday afternoon.

Hunt threw a two-hit shutout and Johnson drove in four runs across the two games of Hillsdale's Great Midwest Athletic Conference doubleheader against Ohio Valley University.

The Chargers swept both ends of their home opener 2-0 and 9-1 over the Fighting Scots, improving to 10-8 overall and 4-2 in the G-MAC.

Hunt, the reigning G-MAC Pitcher of the Week, struck out eight and allowed just two hits in throwing seven shutout innings of the opener. She did an excellent job of getting ahead of hitters the entire game, and never allowed an OVU baserunner past second base in securing the win.

Johnson, a lefthanded hitting first baseman, swung the bat with speed and confidence, and provided Hillsdale's only offense in the opener. She sliced a single through the right side of the infield in the fifth inning of game one, scoring Katie Kish and Amanda Marra to get Hillsdale on the board.

In game two, Dana Weidinger got the victory, going all five innings with three strikeouts and three hits allowed.

The Chargers scored three times in the first inning without the benefit of a hit. The first three batters reached via walk, and Johnson's RBI groundout got Hillsdale a quick, early lead. Hillsdale scored three more times in the third and fifth inning, and Johnson's RBI single in the fifth triggered the NCAA run rule.

Senior Kelsey Gockman was 1-for-3 with 2 RBI, and sophomore Sydney San Juan had two singles up the middle and scored a run with a run batted in.

Marra was 1-for-3 with a run scored and junior Jessica Taylor was 1-for-1 with a run scored and a run batted in.
