Kastning Earns Consensus 1st Team All-Region Honors

Recent graduate Bekah Kastning turned in one of the great seasons and careers ever seen in the history of Hillsdale College softball, and the postseason honors she's receiving are indicative of that.

Kastning was named First-Team All-Region by both the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and the Divisions 2 Conference Commissioners Association. The former was voted upon by coaches I never the Midwest Region, while the latter award goes through a nomination and voting process by NCAA Division II sports information directors. Kastning is automatically eligible for All-American honors through both programs.

A four-year starter at center field, this is the third time Kastning has been named All-Region in her career, but the first time she's made the first team in any program.

She finished the 2017 season with a school-record 79 total hits and a .467 batting average. She didn't commit a single error in the field and was struck out just once in 22 conference games this year.

In her highly decorated career, Kastning finished with 234 hits, 13 triples, 117 runs scored and a .413 batting average, all to play five marks in school history. She batted .400 or better in three of her four seasons and had two seasons of 66 or more hits.
