Softball Team Loses Two Friday

Game 1 box score: Slippery Rock 8, Hillsdale 1

Game 2 box score: Bemidji State 12, Hillsdale 1

It was a rough day on the diamonds for the Hillsdale College softball team Friday evening in Clermont, Florida.

The Chargers lost two games by a combined score of 20-2, dropping contests to Slippery Rock 8-1 and Bemidji State 12-1 in five innings. Hillsdale is now 9-12 on the season.

In both games, Hillsdale's lone run came right away in the first inning. Against Slippery Rock, Katie Kish scored on an infield single off the bat of Cassie Asselta.

Freshman Victoria Addis was 2-for-3 in Friday's opener.

In the second game, the Chargers were held to three hits, while Bemidji State (10-3) scored eight runs in the bottom of the third inning.

Junior Kelsey Gockman doubled home Kish in the first inning to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead.
