Game 2 box score: Truman 7, Hillsdale 2

The challenging Florida schedule continued for the Hillsdale College softball team Friday afternoon, as the Chargers lost both games against teams with winning records.

Hillsdale lost to Wilmington 1-0 and regional foe Truman 7-2 to fall to 5-8 on the season. All four teams Hillsdale has faced in Florida this week have winning percentages of .550 or higher.

In Friday's first game, the Charger bats were quieted by the strong pitching from Wilmington's Caitlyn Whiteside, who allowed just two hits and struck out eight batters in a complete-game shutout.

Only Bekah Kastning and Amanda Marra managed to get hits for Hillsdale, both of them singles. Cassie Asselta and Victoria Addis drew walks in the loss.

Dana Weidinger pitched six innings and struck out four while allowing just three hits and one run.

In the second game, Hillsdale took a 1-0 lead in the first inning after Kastning's leadoff triple was followed by a Katie Kish single. But Truman struck for four second-inning runs to take a lead it would never relinquish.

Addis also tripled in the loss and Kish added a double to the Hillsdale offense.
