Humes Wins Second G-MAC Athlete of the Week Honor

Charger senior Joseph Humes left a lot of Division I runners behind on Friday afternoon. Tuesday morning, he was recognized for his speed.

For the second time this fall, Humes was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week. The award was announced and chosen by the conference office.

Running in the Gold Division of the Joe Piane Invitational, held at the University of Notre Dame, Humes finished second overall with a time of 24:14.4 in the 5-mile course. Humes finished ahead of 158 Division I runners in the Gold Division race, adding to his outstanding senior regular season.

Humes previously won the G-MAC Athlete of the Week award back on Sept. 9. He and the Chargers are now gearing up for the conference championship meet, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19 and hosted by Ursuline College.
