October 20, 2012 - The Hillsdale College men's cross country team finished in eighth place at Saturday's 2012 GLIAC Championships, hosted by Northwood University in Midland.

The Chargers finished with 209 team points, wedged between seventh-place Saginaw Valley State and ninth-place Findlay. Grand Valley State won the conference title with 29 points, well ahead of second-place Malone University. Ashland, Ferris State and Wayne State rounded out the top five. The Lakers featured six of the top 11 finishers overall at the race.

Sophomore Joshua Mirth was Hillsdale's top performer at the conference meet, earning First-Team All-GLIAC honors thanks to his fourth-place finish. He completed the 8K course in 24:29.3, just seven seconds away from first place. 

Luke Hickman was the Chargers' next-best runner at the meet, finishing 29th overall with a time of 25:22.  Freshman Paul Ausum turned in his best performance of the season, and was 51st with a time of 25:52.

The next top runners for the Chargers were John Butler (62nd) and Matthew VanEgmond (63rd).
