Charger Men Compete at First Home Meet of the Indoor Season

The Hillsdale College men's track team hosted its first of three home meets for the 2019 indoor track season tonight. Conference rival University of Findlay along with Northwood University from the GLIAC competed at this Conference Crossover.

Hillsdale's freshmen show great potential. Ben Raffin doesn't stop improving in the pole vault. After a new personal record last weekend of 4.58m, he vaulted an NCAA Divisional II provisional height of 4.73m tonight. He came in second to conference rival, Findlay University. John Baldwin continues to improve in the 60m hurdles as well. He won tonight's race with a time of 8.50 seconds. Joining him in the final was junior Ian Brown who took third and sophomore Ryan Thomsen in fourth.

The Poth brothers represented Hillsdale in the 3000m run. Senior Eli Poth led the way for his younger brother to earn second place with a time of 9:09.88. Sophomore Eric Poth took fourth in 9:27.16.

The rest of the Charger distance crew conquered the mile together. Junior Joey Humes snagged the victory in 4:16, followed behind freshman Mark Miller in fifth and sophomore Jack Shelley in sixth. The two ran 4:22.4 and 4:23.78, respectively. Junior Alex Oquist came in eighth in 4:25.67.

In the 200m dash, senior veteran Nathan Pando looked strong coming out of the blocks. He sprinted his way  to fifth place with a time of 22.95. Sophomore Adam Wade took second in the 400m dash in 50.62 seconds.

Pando and Wade joined senior Levi Wyse and freshman Jacob Schmidt in the 4-by-400m relay. The Chargers captured first place in 3:29.
